Les Disques du Crépuscule was the ultra chic, multimedia independent label founded by Michel Duval, Benoit Hennebert and Annik Honoré in Brussels in 1980, and closely associated with the Factory Benelux label during its first year. For more Crépuscule history and images click here.

As well as the many Crépuscule-related artists whose catalogue is available through LTM (Antena, Steven Brown, Anna Domino, Paul Haig, Richard Jobson, Ludus, Marine, The Names, Blaine L. Reininger, Thick Pigeon, Winston Tong, Tuxedomoon and others), we are pleased to present new CD editions of several classic label collections:

FROM BRUSSELS WITH LOVE LTMCD 2479 £10

Reviews: "This is a reminder - without really trying, without being obvious - that pop is modern poetry, is the sharpest, shiniest collection of experiences, is always something new" (NME (Paul Morley), 12/80); "Fantastic! The perfect Christmas gift! FBWL is over 80 minutes of sheer scrapbookalia. It is a lovingly put together way of deflating modern music, and at the same time of exalting its basic merits. A searing, sprawling, exotically chaotic way of achieving the almost impossible and restoring rock music to something that will nearly surprise you… It is endless and endlessly, genuinely entertaining listening. As pretentious as hell, of course, but there is only one thing worse than that - and that's not being pretentious. This tape, a long mysterious piece of collective modern overdrive, points to a future somewhere. And it looks more crimson that rosy, it's that good" (Sounds (Dave McCullough), 12/80); "This really is a treat - a brand new remastered edition of one of the most elusive, sought-after compilations of all time. It has everything you could possibly ask for: every track is a winner, it's all exclusive material, and supremely varied, with tracks ranging from modern classical to new wave with room in the middle for a couple of 'ambient' interviews. A disc packed with ideas so fresh and so groundbreaking that they still sound life-changing even today. Without a doubt the perfect introduction to a label which would influence so many of today's classic independents. Seminal, inspired, essential" (Boomkat, 2/07); "Reissue of the week. The perfection of From Brussels With Love still persists anno 2007" (De Standaard, 02/07); "Sometimes one has to admit to simple fandom - of wonderful albums with industrial and French pop, synaethesia with interviews and poetry readings, daring experiments in classical music, and confident eclecticism of the highest standard" (Westzeit, 03/07); "Three decades on, it still stands as a fascinating document of the times" (Plan B, 03/07): "At the time, both as an artefact and a selection of tracks, FBWL seemed perfectly to articulate the sepulchral, twilit and mainland European sensibility that would be one of the musical and subcultural consequences of punk. Crepuscule was concerned above all with high aestheticism and modern connoisseurship, and heard now FBWL sounds as thrillingly new and seductively poised as it did 27 years ago. Oh, where did all the time go?" (The Wire (Michael Bracewell), 04/07); "As musical time-machines go, FBWL is perfect. It takes you right back to 1980, when when some of the most interesting music was being made by independent artists and labels outside the shipping routes of chart pop. Why did it take 27 years to put this out on CD properly? Four stars" (Record Collector, 04/07); "An amazing reissue which sets the bar high with quality and attention to detail" (Brainwashed, 02/07); "Completely original and beyond compare" (Magic, 03/07); "A masterpiece of distinctly northern European post-punk eclecticism. Almost every track is an unabashedly melancholic or angst-ridden gem" (Frieze, 04/07)

GHOSTS OF CHRISTMAS PAST LTMCD 2426 £10
Digital remaster of the Crepuscule Christmas album first released in 1981 (TWI 058) with original Hennebert artwork and festive inserts, together with 9 bonus tracks from subsequent editions. Chantons noel! 20 tracks, 72 minutes of music, detailed sleevenotes. Full tracklist: Aztec Camera, Hot Club of Christ; The Names, Tokyo Twilight; Paul Haig, Christiana; The Swinging Buildings, Praying for a Cheaper Christmas; White Birds, Possessed by the Stars; The Durutti Column, One Christmas For Your Thoughts; Tuxedomoon, Weinachtrap; Simon Topping, Peep Show International; Thick Pigeon, Silhouettes; Michael Nyman, Cream or Christians; Magazzini Criminali, Honolulu 25 Dicembre 1990; The French Impressionists, Santa Baby; The Pale Fountains, Benoit's Christmas; Antena, Noelle a Hawai; The Arcadians, Write Your Letter; Mikado, Message de Noel; Paul Haig, Scottish Christmas; The Durutti Column, Snowflakes; Winston Tong, The Twelve Days of Christmas; Hillcrest Club, Breakfast at Christmas.

Reviews: "Aztec Camera's Hot Club of Christ is a busy, Django-esque run through a few well-known Christmas ditties, while Michael Nyman's Cream or Christians is a silly but loveable fragmented organ collage in a typical English eccentric tradition. Elsewhere, A Certain Ratio's Simon Topping contributes a beaty, bongo-brassy little thing, which would have sounded a lot less formal had the likes of Rip Rig been let lose on it, Tuxedomoon are in playful Residential mood, while The Durutti Column's One Christmas For Your Thoughts is exactly what you'd expect, an exquisite, gentle instrumental operating on a level where factors of 'interest' and 'boredom' don't figure" (NME, 12/1981); "Crepuscule's Christmas cracker is here to rescue the festive season from the fogies and bores" (Melody Maker, 12/1981); "Awesome. An ideal stocking filler for your favourite followers of early 80s avant-garde and new wave" (Boomkat, 12/2007)

Burroughs Twilight's Last Gleaming, Cecile Bruynoghe Gymnopedie No 1, Rhine River III Departures, Rhythm of Life Soon, Lawrence Weiner Where It Came From.

Reviews: "How to conciliate fire and water" (The Face, 12/1981); "A double sampler of widely differing, largely defiant sounds loosely linked by the ideal of returning to some artistic Bohemianism, all of it interesting. A bright idea" (Melody Maker, 12/1981) "After From Brussels With Love, a further treasure-trove of post-punk avant-gardism and seductive melancholia. Now reissued with richly informative sleevenotes, this double CD seems to prove, without effort of pause, the near genius behind Crepuscule to be nothing less than a multimedia celebration of modernist aesthetics. It has aged supremely well, sounding more engaging then ever with the passing years, and with 8 extra tracks should be regarded as an essential purchase" (The Wire, 01/2008); "The songs on this compilation complement each other's moods extremely well, and the result is an embarrassment of riches. Fully remastered with 8 additional tracks not found on the original release, LTM has again done a superb job in returning an excellent Crepuscule title to print" (Brainwashed, 09/2007); "For treasure hunters the work pays off. FOTOS embraces new wave, no wave, avant-garde, minimalism, neo-clssics and cult literature. Indeed something for everyone" (PopNews, 08/2007); "Covers the waterfront from melancholic new wave, impressionistic piano sketches, New York avant-garde, minimalism, literature and even bar jazz. An excellent reissue from an age of aesthetics and taste" (Hi Fi & Records, 11/2007)

MOVING SOUNDTRACKS LTMCD 2514 £10
Commissioned in 1983, Moving Soundtracks collects cover versions of movie songs and soundtracks by an international Crepuscule roster, now expanded and updated for this remastered CD edition. Original project produced by Blaine L. Reininger (Tuxedomoon). Cover image by Michel Duval. 20 tracks, 74 minutes of music. Full tracklist: Blaine L. Reininger, Le Mepris; Antena, Les Demoiselles de Rochefort; The Pale Fountains, We Have All The Time in the World; Paul Haig, The Persuaders; La Muerte, Experiment in Terror; Quando Quango, Low Rider; Virna Lindt, The Windmills of Your Mind; Thick Pigeon, Moon River; Gabrielle Lazure, A Childrens' Tale; Tot Taylor, Blowproof; The Wayfarers, Arabesque; Cosy Corner, You Only Live Twice; The Dream Makers, La Chanson d'Helene; Kerr & Langford, Seabirds; Blaine L. Reininger, Le Derniere Amant Romantique; Steven Brown, Chinatown (Theme); Be Music, Theme (Hommage a MGM); Alan Rankine, Can You Believe Everything I See?; Snakefinger, 8 1/4; Tuxedomoon, Connie's Wedding.

Reviews: "Another key Crepuscule release reissued by LTM Recordings, this compilation finds a number of the label's key acts taking on their favourite cinematic and televisual soundtracking moments, beginning with Tuxedomoon's Blaine L. Reininger taking on Georges Delarue's classic 'Le Mepris' from the film of the same name. It's a fine rendering of the piece, drenched in the all-encompassing reverb effects you'd expect from an early eighties recording (the compilation was commissioned in 83/84). The Pale Fountains come up with a decent rendering of 'We Have All The Time In The World', while Cosy Corner's way, way out of tune rendering of 'You Only Live Twice' is novel if nothing else. The whole album is ace, but highlights come from Paul Haig's electronic take on the theme from The Persuaders and Virna Lindt's slightly camp version of 'The Windmills Of Your Mind'. Highly Recommended" (Boomkat, 04/2008)

AUTEUR LABELS: CREPUSCULE LTMCD 2517 £10
The ongoing compilation series Auteur Labels profiles independent record labels with a unique and enduring sound, vision and design sensibility, usually guided by one or two directors, and concerned more with art than commerce. To read Crepuscule volume sleevenote click here. Full tracklist: MICHAEL NYMAN mozart, MARINE life in reverse, THICK PIGEON, subway, JOSEF K sorry for laughing, REPETITION a still reflex, BILL NELSON dada guitare, PAUL HAIG running away, TUXEDOMOON ninotchka, IKE YARD night after night, DURUTTI COLUMN party, THE NAMES life by the sea, STEVEN BROWN waltz, RICHARD JOBSON autumn, THE FRENCH IMPRESSIONISTS pick up the rhythm, ISOLATION WARD lamina christus, ANTENA camino del sol, THE PALE FOUNTAINS (there's always) something on my mind, MIKADO par hazard, ANNA DOMINO land of my dreams, BLAINE L. REININGER mystery and confusion, DEVINE & STATTON bizarre love triangle.

Reviews: 'Outstanding compilations, sophisticated scholarship. This Crepuscule volume is both a treasury of musical originality and an epoch-defining document, the overarching tone of which is plangent, high aesthetic modernism. The Baroque overture of Michael Nyman's Mozart is matched by the looping dronescape of Bill Nelson's Dada Guitare. Such filmic urbanism, enhanced by the stark rhythm patterns, for example, of Repetition's A Still Reflex, is then transposed to a new mode by the wistful, sun-drenched female vocals of Mikado and Anna Domino. At root, the Crepuscule sensibility treated the recording, promotion and packaging of recorded music as a proudly artistic and holistic aesthetic process - a spirit here upheld by the super cool cover design by Benoit Hennebert' (The Wire, 08/2008); 'A bang up job. The package depicts a bygone era of enduring relevance, and the superb booklet is rich in historical detail, photographs and artwork' (Brainwashed, 09/2008)

Reviews: 'An absolute joy. The 1981 cover version of The Boy From Ipanema by Parisian trio Antena is just one delight on this compilation of music from Brussels label Les Disques du Crepuscule' (The Word, 08/2010); 'Remarkable music, more pre-pop than post-punk. I'm hoping LTM put together "Les Garcons Du Crepuscule" to balance out the gender-battle' (AllGigs, 06/2010)

SOME OF THE INTERESTING THINGS... LTMCD 2467 £10
Deluxe CD souvenir (TWI 082) of Crepuscule's ambitious Dialogue North-South package tour in February 1982, featuring exclusive live tracks by Antena, Durutti Column, Paul Haig & Rhythm of Life, Richard Jobson, The Names and absurdist emcee Wally Van Middendorp of Minny Pops. 21 tracks, 76 minutes of music. To read CD liner notes click here. Full tracklist: Wally Van Middendorp *1; Richard Jobson - Etiquette, Pavilion Pole, India Song; Durutti Column - Danny, Madness, For Friends in Belgium; Wally Van Middendorp *2; Paul Haig - Chance, Stories, Glory, Justice; Antena - The Boy From Ipanema, Silly Things; Wally Van Middendorp *3; The Names - Close to Me, In Other Rooms, A Few Hundreds, Anything (With Passion), Spectators of Life; Wally Van Middendorp *4.

Reviews: "The tour boasted a colourful array of artists, viciously at odds with the pastel-coloured trousers of British pop at that time, which only serves to increase interest here. The 21 performances from the refreshingly non-competitive roster are best swallowed whole, and the effect is heightened by excellent sleeve notes from James Nice and the late, great journalist Johnny Waller" (Record Collector, 9/06); "Something of a slice of musical history, a snapshot of time, and it's nice to go back - read the tour programme, listen to the sounds (all exclusive tracks) and hear how it was done back then. Recommended" (Boomkat, 01/07)
